About

I’m Danielle, a 30-year old wife-mother-and-more living in Maryland.  As that first line may imply, I have a husband and a daughter… and a mother, father, a couple of sisters, some nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law or two and a whole slew of aunts, uncles and cousins.  We’re Irish and many are Catholic – you do the math.

I’ve spent my entire life in the Baltimore-area, which means I will always judge you for your taste in seafood and how much junk you think goes in a good crabcake.  I love Hairspray, Cry Baby, John Waters and Cal Ripken, Jr., even though the number of baseball games I’ve watched can be counted on one hand that’s missing four fingers.

My hobbies and interests include cooking, baking, dining out, travel, concerts, reading, writing and watching way too much trashy reality TV (RHoWherever, I’m lookin’ at you).  I dabble in many things and excel at nothing in particular, so be prepared for a little chaos in my blog.  I can’t promise to focus on any one thing for very long.

I met my husband, Ed,  in 2001-or-so, but it wasn’t until 2004 that we went out on our first date.  We were both Rennies (you know, those renaissance-festival freaks who wear the funny clothes and hang out all day even though they don’t work there?) at the time and ran in the same social circle, but it was awhile before we were truly friends-then-more.  He’s a professional Geek, wonderfully intelligent and terribly patient with me and my idiosyncrasies.

He proposed one day in August 2006 and I turned him down.  He tried again on New Year’s Eve 2007 and this time, I accepted.  We got married on October 31, 2008 and I feel so very fortunate to say that I married my best friend.

Our vivacious little girl, Miranda, was born in April 2007.  I know that, as her mother, I’m biased, but I think she is so charming, personable, funny, smart and beautiful.  I am constantly entertained (and occasionally annoyed) by her and the way she has changed my life – the impact she has had on my very soul – is staggering to me.

We at the Cloud 8 ½ Family live together with two exceptionally fuzzy cats named Raven (girl) and Minerva (boy – a case of incorrect gender identification).  We’re a happy little unit, and I’m thrilled to blather on about our life here in this corner of the internet.
